Accomplishment


  1. DNF as network organization has presence at 69 districts of Nepal through its member organizations. It has well established offices at central, five development regions, and 10 districts of Nepal. Currently, 344 Dalit NGOs from Hill, Mountain and Terai are affiliated with DNF.
  2. DNF has significantly contributed to establish Rights against untouchability caste based and discrimination as fundamental rights of Dalits for the first time in the Interim Constitution of Nepal.
  3. DNF along with its national level member organizations were able to introduce separate Dalit chapter in Tenth National Plan of Nepal government (widely known as Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper) for the first time in the country. Thereafter, the government has continuously prioritized Dalit chapter in its following national periodic plans.
  4. DNF has significantly contributed to establish and expand two government bodies working and Dalit Human Rights and development issues namely National Dalit Commission (NDC) and expand Dalit Development Committee chapters in 74 districts of Nepal
  1. DNF has vital contribution to establish the inclusion agenda of Dalits in Nepal through its continuous lobby and advocacy with the government, political parties, development partners and concerned stakeholders since its inception. As a result of this, 9 % of affirmative policy to ensure Dalit representation into public services, including police and army. Besides, mainstream  Political parties (UCPN (Moist) , Nepali Congress Party and  CPN UML among others  has made inclusive provision and reserved quota for Dalits and other marginalized and excluded groups
  1. DNF has contributed to bring Caste Discrimination and Untouchablity (Offence and Punishment) Act 2011. For this, it has carried out discussion and dialogues with various with law makers political parties and concerned stakeholders in the country. 
  2. DNF has played significant roles in constitution making process for the establishment of Dalit Rights in the forthcoming constitution though it was not able complete its mandate. Prior to the elections of constituent assembly it massively mobilized its member organization in more than 44 districts to spread awareness on civic and voter education considering the importance of constituent assembly for establishment of Dalit Rights in the new constitution.
  3. DNF had reached at approximately 44 thousand Dalit populations through its networks. Similarly; DNF had continuously made its efforts to conduct constructive dialogues between Dalit society and CA members in all over the country during opinion collection.Likewise, DNF continuously engaged with CA thematic committees to ensure Dalit issues into the thematic committee reports through interaction, memorandum submission, regular meetings, workshop and conferences. All the thematic committees of Constituent Assembly have well recognized Dalit issues which the significant achievements in which DNF has also vital contribution.
  4. DNF, also, has field nearly 500 cases of caste based discrimination and untouchablity and 18 Public Interest litigation (PIL) into the district courts and Supreme Court to provide justice and compensation to Dalit victims resulting from caste based atrocities.
  5. DNF has delivered capacity building trainings, including organizational development, NGO management, Proposal writing, Right Based Advocacy for Dalits Rights, Communication And Documentation Training, Governance and social Inclusion Training, Financial Management etc  to its member organizations. So far, more than 300 Dalit NGOs have been benefited from these capacity building trainings to effectively manage program and project for Dalits.
  6. DNF has been recognized as credible Dalit civil society organization by government of Nepal, political parties, civil society organizations, development partners and international on Dalit issues.
  7. DNF has well established relation with government bodies and its line agencies and collaborating these bodies now and again to effectively implement the Dalit and pro-Dalit programs and budget at grassroots level.
  8. DNF has frequently been representing various UN and other forums at International level for policy interventions towards government of Nepal as per its national and international commitments on Dalit issues.
  9.  DNF for the first time organized international consultation on caste based discrimination in Nepal in 2004 to internationalize Dalit issues and strengthen the alliance of caste affected countries to jointly advocate on the issues at international forums.

DNF formed various saving and credit groups through its member organizations at various districts of Nepal.Now; DNF has been able to convert these CBOs into the 95 cooperative organizations at 13 districts to unit Dalits for economic empowerment activities. DNF has significant experiences for running vocational training and income generation activities for Dalits affiliated with these groups.
  11. DNF has indentified nearly 32000 Dalit populations at suffering no access to citizenship certificates due to extreme poverty and lower level awareness on it at 5 districts. DNF jointly collaborated with District Administration offices has been able to facilitate 45000 people including other marginalized people to obtain citizen certificates through logistical support.
  12. DNF as a strategic partner has collaborated with Election Commission of Nepal to include eligible voters of Dalits community for enrolling them into the new digital voter lists.DNF has reached nearly 4000 thousand Dalit and non Dalit population on voter education through its awareness programs including community discussion meeting, radio program, poster and pamphlets, street dramas, miking, help desk during voters enrolling camps at district and VDCs.
  13. DNF has formed a National level Watch Dog Committee for the Elimination of Caste Discrimination and untouchability in Nepal. In this committee, renowned Human Rights and civil society organizations (INSEC, NGO Federation and Federation of indigenous nationalities etc), caste based organizations (Brahmin Samaj, Chhetri Samaj and Newar Samaj etc) and Religious organization (World Hindu Federation, Inter Religious organization etc) to jointly fight against caste based discrimination issues and spread message for social harmony and unity among Dalit and non-Dalit groups. This committee is actively working national level and planned to extend its branches at districts in near future.
  14. Currently, DNF has strategic partnership with Nepal Police to jointly intervene caste discrimination issues under legal framework and spread legal awareness on proper implement anti caste discrimination act in the society.
  15. DNF had successfully concluded its massive campaign mobilizing its member organizations in 75 districts of Nepal to bring out accurate Dalit population in the country during census 2011.
