Thematic Areas Legal aid and advisory support

DNF performs crucial roles to provide legal aid and advisory support to the victims of caste based discrimination and untouchability and helps member organizations to fight for justice against caste based atrocities.

It advocates and acts on behalf of the victim on various caste based atrocities  with law enforcement agencies and concerned government authorities to ensure the justice process in favor of them and legal action against culprits under existing legal framework. Under this theme, DNF raises the cases of caste-based discrimination issues as Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and plays policy advisory role on the issues of Dalit legal rights.

DNF as the coordinator of sub-committee on Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) under the Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC), also monitors the domestication of international Human Rights Instruments, including CERD and engage with concerned UN treaties based committees for periodic shadow reporting through HRTMCC. All the legal and human rights related programmes are executed under this theme
